In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Importance of water for the lives of creatures:
Water is the essence of human, animal and plant life on the earth, as it is the only agent that carries mineral salts and nutritional elements to the living creatures. In other words, without water, human, animal or plant life on earth would be impossible.
But did you know that 16, 000,000 tons of rainwater fall down on the earth per second? And did you know that this downfall of rain manifests clearly Allah’ s Beautiful Divine Name “Al-Lateef” (The Most Gentle)? Well, it simply does, because if the rainwater kept falling down continuously on the surface of the earth, it would destroy everything, and it would make life on earth impossible. But due to Allah’s Infinite Divine Mercy, Wisdom and Kindness, He makes rain fall down in the form of tiny drops in a way that is most gentle, merciful and wise?
I have recently read that thanks to the heavy rains that fell down in the year 1988, the rural areas in our country, Syria, produced abundant yields of grass and pastoral plants worth 10 billion Syrian pounds. Also, there were abundant harvests of fruits and vegetables.
Thanks to the heavy rains that Allah, Most Gracious, bestowed upon us, we did not have to pay such great amounts of money for fodder.
Allah, All Mighty, says,
“And in the heaven is your provision and that which you are promised.”
[LI; 22]
This Quranic Verse shows clearly that our food would not exist without the rains that fall down from the heaven by Allah’s Infinite Divine Might, Mercy and Wisdom. Glory to Allah, All Mighty, Whose Divine Generosity is really Amazing! It is He Who sets prices of all things, because when He sends down abundant rain, harvests increase and prices go down.
Once again, Allah, All Mighty, says,
“And in the heaven is your provision and that which you are promised.”
He, Most Gracious, also says,
“And there is not a thing but with Us are the stores thereof. And We send it not down except in a known measure.”
[XV; 22]
What Does this Divine giving refer to?
Undoubtedly, it is Allah, All Mighty, Most Gracious, Who provides mankind with sustenance and enables them to make their living. It is He, Who is the All Mighty, the All Strong. The idea that 16 million tons of rainwater per second over the whole surface of the earth, and the idea that abundant downfall of rain in 1988 saved us from paying 10 billion Pounds for fodder, surely have their great significance in the sight of true believers. Such is Allah’s Infinite Kindness and Generosity! In this context,
Allah, All Mighty, Most Generous, says,
“Each We provide, these and those, from the Bounties of your Lord. And the Bounties of your Lord can never be confined.”
He, Glory to Him, also says,
“Let man consider his own food: We pour down water in abundance. We split the earth in clefts; and We cause therein the grain to grow, and grapes and clover plants, and olives and date-palms, and gardens dense with many trees, and fruits and herbage: a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.”
[LXXX; 24-32]
Advantage:
In his book of Quranic interpretation, Ibn Katheer said: “‘And We have made from water all living things”
means: People see, with their own eyes, that new creatures are being made in front of them; and this provides them clear evidence of the Existence of the Almighty Maker, Allah, Who is Able to do all things.”
To the same effect, poetic verses go:
And in everything He (Allah) has a Sign
Showing that He is the One and Only.
Also, in Al-Jalalein book of Quranic interpretation:
“‘And We have made from water all living things”
means: Allah, All Mighty, has made, from the water, whether falling down from the heaven or gushing out from the earth, all living things: human beings, animals, and plants.
In other words, water is the essence of all living things. So, why don’t people believe in Allah’s Divine Oneness?!”
